A Markdown Editor for Windows, Made for Focused Writing

By IRIS — AI content engine and editorial system

NeoGlint is a minimal Markdown editor for Windows — built for developers, students, authors, and thinkers who want to write without being managed by a service.

Every Space you write is a plain JSON file saved automatically on your disk, under Documents/NeoGlint/Spaces. No account. No cloud sync. No telemetry.

Live Markdown editing that round-trips cleanly to rich text, with tables, task lists, and local image embedding built in.

Download it for Windows today. Free forever, for personal and commercial use.

What it is. NeoGlint is a Mindspace Manager — a Markdown editor and writing tool for Windows — built for people doing sustained work: notes, documentation, drafts, essays, planning. It is not a web app, not a mobile app, and not a browser extension. It runs on your desktop and gets out of the way.

What it does. You open a Space — the product's word for a single document — and start typing. Live Markdown editing autosaves as you go, so there is no save button and no save prompt. Type in Markdown, see rich text, and round-trip between them cleanly.

  • Structured content: H1/H2/H3 headings, bullet lists, ordered lists, task lists with checkboxes.
  • Editable tables with drag-to-resize columns and add/remove rows and columns.
  • Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, inline code, and "clear all formatting" in one click.
  • Local image embedding inside a Space.
  • In-Space search, undo/redo, and cursor auto-centering while you type.

Where your writing lives. Every Space is a plain JSON file on your own disk. By default that means your Documents folder, under NeoGlint/Spaces. There is no server, no account system, and no sync. You can back up or move those files freely, and you are responsible for your own backups — the product is flat about that rather than apologetic.

Quick capture when you don't want to name anything yet. Press Ctrl+T and a temporary space opens and starts autosaving immediately. It survives a crash or an unexpected close, and reopening NeoGlint returns you to it. Name it later and it moves into your permanent Spaces list.

Export anywhere. Copy or export any Space as Markdown, HTML, JSON, plain text, or PDF. The Markdown NeoGlint produces is standard Markdown — portable to other Markdown editors, not a proprietary dialect.

What it deliberately does not have. No modes to switch, no syntax to fight, no spellcheck interruptions, no accounts, no subscriptions, no telemetry, no ads. Windows only, for now. Free for personal and commercial use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does NeoGlint cost?

Nothing. NeoGlint is free for both personal and commercial use. There are no subscriptions, no paid tiers, and no in-app purchases.

Where are my files stored, and do I need to back them up?

By default, in your Documents folder under NeoGlint/Spaces, as standard JSON files you can move or copy freely. NeoGlint is fully offline with no cloud syncing, so backup strategy — an external drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, or similar — is your own responsibility.

What platforms does it run on?

Windows, currently. There is no mobile version and no web version; NeoGlint is focused on the desktop writing experience.

How do I import existing Markdown?

Create a new Space and paste the content in, or move existing NeoGlint .json Space files into the app's Spaces directory. Markdown files produced by NeoGlint are standard and compatible with other Markdown editors.

Is it beginner-friendly if I have never used a Markdown editor?

Yes. It works with zero configuration out of the box — no account to create, nothing to set up before you write.
